SPICA and FIDIS are co-extruded linear collimators designed to match various applications with wide batwing and wall grazing beams.
Thanks to extrusion technology, parts can be easily cut to desired lengths.
Both are designed to deliver highly homogeneous color uniformity and are also suitable for tunable white linear applications.
When your project calls for excellent color consistency in a simple, scalable linear format, the SPICA and FIDIS range offers a cutting-edge beam performance while bringing all the benefits of co-extrusion technology.
Linear co-extruded optics have been designed for compatibility with both mid-power and high-power LEDs. Demonstrators have been manufactured using Nichia 757 and Lumileds 2835 LEDs.
SPICA is compatible with 20 mm PCBs with connectors, including flexible LED strips, while FIDIS offers the same compatibility and additionally supports 20 mm ZHAGA boards.
STILEC has developed PCBs for both SPICA and FIDIS.
These linear optics are made of co-extruded PMMA and designed as slide-in optics for linear PCB modules using 2835 or 3030 mid-power LEDs.
For correct optical performance, the LED centre line must be accurately aligned with the optical axis of the profile.
The optical profile should be mechanically guided by the luminaire extrusion,
while maintaining sufficient clearance from the LED package and PCB components.
We recommend keeping the active optical area free from connectors, wires, solder joints, test points, and tall components.
Connectors should preferably be placed at the PCB ends with SPICA and on the PCB ends or sides with FIDIS to avoid mechanical interference, shadowing, or unwanted light artefacts.
FIDIS can be used with 20mm standard Zhaga boards, see also LLL15N7 PCB guide.
Final clearance must be checked according to the LED package height, PCB thickness, solder pad design, luminaire extrusion tolerances, and assembly method.
To ensure proper light uniformity, we recommend a single centred LED row.
The proper pitch will depend on LED package, LED power, luminaire design, protective cover distance, wall distance, and required visual appearance.
We recommend using :
SPICA & FIDIS:
SPICA can accept wider spacing when sufficient mixing distance is available.
FIDIS requires more careful pitch selection to shadow effect in wall-grazing- and especially in RGBW applications.
